Verizon LG VX8700 Phone Reviewed ![]() LaptopMag has reviewed the LG VX8700 metal clamshell. The LG VX8700 has a 2.2-inch LCD display, a 1.5-inch secondary display, a 2 Megapixel camera, support for EV-DO and a microSD card slot. LaptopMag says: The lower-priced LG VX8600 is still our favorite bang-for-your-buck V CAST phone, but the VX8700 is worth $50 more for those looking for a combination of high style and substance. The 2-MP camera also helps justify the premium. Although some may balk at the lack of media controls and the internal memory card slot, we recommend this sleek silver clamshell for those who have the means. PROS • Sleek metal finish • Sharp 2-MP camera • Fast EV-DO performance • Excellent voice call quality CONS • microSD card slot behind battery • No media controls • Design attracts fingerprints ![]() ![]() ![]() Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC Video Preview ![]() Clipset gives us a hands-on look at the Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC. Nokia N95 Reviewed ![]() The Nokia N95 has released and here is the round-up of the reviews. The Nokia N95 has a 3 Megapixel camera, built-in GPS receiveer, WiFi 802.11b/g. It has a 2.6-inch QVGA LCD display, a 5 Megapixel camera, 3D graphics, 3D stereo sound, 3.5mm audio jack, MicroSD slot, mini USB connector, Bluetooth. TrustedReviews says: The N95 is certainly packed with features, but more isn’t necessarily better. The phone is large, its software seemed to run a bit slow at times, the build quality is not that good, battery life is poor and the GPS antenna was not as efficient as some. On contract it might be attractive, but SIM free it’s vastly overpriced. Features: 6/10 Usability: 7/10 Value: 7/10 Overall: 7/10 CNET says: The good:آ The Nokia N95 cell phone boasts a 5-megapixel camera that produces good-quality photos and videos. It comes with advanced multimedia capabilities and has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Symbian smart phone also features integrated GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and an innovative two-way slider design. The bad: The N95 lacks support for U.S. 3G networks; standby battery life is poor; and performance is somewhat sluggish. The hardware feels a bit cheap, and the sliding mechanism could be more secure. It’s also very expensive. The bottom line: With a 5-megapixel camera, advanced multimedia capabilities, and GPS, there’s no doubt that the Nokia N95 is one of the most feature-packed smart phones to date, but poor battery life and sluggish performance makes it hard to justify the high price tag. My-Symbian says: Great looking phone and a great performer. Like Nokia says, it’s truly amazing “what computers have become”. Great screen, powerful processor with 2D/3D graphics and video acceleration, all connectivity and data transmission options including HSDPA, WLAN b/g, UPnP, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, fantastic camera letting you take still pictures with quality comparable to amateur digicams and record video clips of mini-DV quality, great audio and video playback capabilities, TV out connector, built-in GPS receiver and good mapping software - everything inside small, light and extremely good looking housing. What’s left to say… GO, GET IT! What I liked: * powerful ARM11-based TI OMAP2420 processor running at 330 MHz * superb 5 MPix Carl Zeiss Tessar camera with autofocus * HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, UMTS, EDGE * built-in GPS receiver * high quality, huge 2.6″ TFT screen * quadband 850/900/1800/1900 GSM, 2100 WCDMA * Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g 54 Mbps * Bluetooth 2.0 EDR (3 Mbps) * A2DP profile for stereo audio over Bluetooth * TV-quality video recording @ VGA resolution and 30 frames per second * good build quality, elegant design, good size and weight * standard 3.5 mm mini-jack A/V out connector * USB 2.0 Full speed via USB Mini-B connector What I didn’t like: * the sliding part should have a lock to prevent it from sliding out (and unlocking the keypad) in your pocket * the sliding part is a tad too loose - moves and rattles * 22 MB free RAM is certainly too little for such a powerful device * incorrect white balance in certain lighting conditions (purplish hue). ![]() Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S800 Camera ![]() Sony presents the Cyber-shot DSC-S800 digital camera.
